Why was the TV advertising campaign so successful?
The film was made for both younger and older generations which is one reason why it was so popular. Another reason is that it is open ended which is when at the end of the film it leaves you wondering whether there will be any more of those films. They also marketed it using branded content.
What is SYNERGY in marketing?
This is when 2 marketing initiatives create a response greater than the sum of the combined response the two would have elicited alone. For small businesses (which often lack the funds for an aggressive marketing budget) the key to achieving marketing synergy is in multiple, low-cost initiatives.
How does lego use SYNERGY to promote the movie?
Lego collaborated with McDonalds to advertise their movie.
Why would a film company want to release a video game to tie in with their film?
This would be because video games are an extremely popular thing in this generation and people that played the game would then want to go and watch the movie and would attract more and more people. This would also be a very good way of making more money for the company.

The lego movie appeals to kids that like lego because obviously they would enjoy it because the storyline is quite easy to follow so younger children wouldn't find it hard to watch. Different characters would be liked by different people also, as they would be able to feel like they could relate to some of the characters.
Parents of kids that used to play with lego would also be appealed to the film because they used to play with lego when they were younger and wouldn't have played with it for a while because of their children and they would like the storyline as it is related to parenting and kids that would be around their child's ages.
Young cinema goers would enjoy the film because they would feel like they could relate to some of the characters and there is a romance in the storyline. It is also an easy storyline to follow so they would just be able to go and watch it with their friends and it wouldn't be difficult to understand.

How do the following elements appeal to the target audience?
- Title: the title is an obvious appeal to the target audience because lots of younger children enjoy lego and this would make them want to watch the film.
- Tagline:
- Main image - characters: the characters would be an appeal as they are actual lego people came to life and this would be good for younger childrens imagination.
- Main image - setting: the setting of the main image would be an appeal to younger children as there are lots of lego buildings and 'bad characters' in the background. Also, the way that the main image is laid out shows most of the main characters running from something behind them and helicopters in the air and this would make them wonder what the story line is about.
How do the main posters and teaser posters use stereotypes to appeal to the target audience?
- The lego movie doesn't use very strong stereotypes in its images as in the main image, the main caracter, Emmett, is in the centre at the front but the expression on his face makes him look very scared and nervous whereas the girl, Wildstyle, looks angry and tough running to the side of him next to Batman.

Explain how an effective media campaign would exploit a variety of media platforms.
An effective media campaign would exploit different media platforms for reasons such as different platforms could attracts different and more customers. Also, this could create more ideas for marketing and advertising and therefore attract more customers and see which ideas are more popular than others to help for in the future. Platforms such as social media, adverts, online advertising, games, visual and audio forms could all be good ideas.
For example, when advertising the lego movie, they used lots of different media platforms to advertise their film such as social media, online, posters, adverts. One of the most successful advertisements they made was bringing out a lego movie game. This worked well because younger generations enjoy playing games online and if they enjoy playing with lego, they would want to download the game and go and watch the film, making it more popular.
