Music Video Terminology
Narrative - this is when the lyrics are often reflected within the story. This is one of the most common forms of music video.

Performance - performance based music videos shows the artist/band performing.
sick boy - chainsmokers
Performance Montage - when they are performing the whole way through but they are in different places.
bad and boujee - migos
Concept - this type of music video, rather than featuring the band performing the song, it is presented as a visual narrative. There is often no link between the visuals and the lyrics. The video can also directly relate to the story of a concept album.
Narrative: illustration - this is the simplest and easiest concept to base a music video around as it's just a literal meaning to the songs lyrics in visual form, and where the video matches the lyrics of the song.

Narrative: amplification - the conventions demonstrated by the music video creative director. They may both use performance and narrative, connotations of the meanings.
Narrative: disjuncture - intentionally ignores the content of the song and the genre of the music and tries to create a whole new set of meanings. These music videos don't tend to make a lot of sense and can often use abstract imagery. The video has a similar meaning to the lyrics but it is shown in a different way.
