L/O: To research codes and conventions of similar products.

Educational genre codes and conventions have been used on this magazine as the front cover photo is of an animal which shows that the magazine is going to be factual about animals. The layout of the magazine makes it really obvious that it is for kids because the title is very big to catch attention, it is a bright colour and the font is bubble-like. There are also smaller titles underneath and around the main title in the same font, some in different colours. There is also a giveaway advertised at the top which promotes the magazine and persuades people to buy it because there are 'freebies'. The production value looks like it would be quite high as there are a lot of colours and the cover has a border around it so it looks like money has gone into producing the front cover. The ideas that are presented to the target audience is animals and educating them on animals that they may not have seen or heard of before because it is a younger target audience. Design features such as the three smaller animals in a line are used to show that it will be educating you about lots of different animals and interests the target audience. The colour palette is bright colours to be an eye-catcher and suits the age of the target audience as there are also circles of bright colours with animals in them which would also grab attention. The target audience for this magazine would probably be for younger children from around 5-10 years old.

Target Audience

L/O: To research our target audience to enable successful targeting.

Demographics

Age/Gender: 10-13 years.
Race: Any.
Location: UK based.
Employment Status: School.

Psychographics

Personality:
Values:
Attitudes: Interested in education and learning new things.
Interests: Animals/wildlife
Lifestyles:

I am going to create a magazine about animals and wildlife and my target audience is 10-13 year old children that are interested in education and learning new things and facts about animals/wildlife. They would be either at the top of primary school or the bottom of secondary school, and hopefully would be happy at school and happy to learn. They would probably be more likely to live in a rural area so that they are closer to wildlife and different animals that also live in rural areas. Another area they could be likely to live in is coastal/by the sea. This is also because there are different types of animals that live in these types of areas. Favourite subjects for this target audience could be biology and subjects like this. School would preferably be something that is important to them and the social side so that they are learning the best they can. The age group 10-13 is usually when children start using phones and this would be how they socialised, as well as meeting up with their friends. Their friends would describe them as a positive person who enjoys learning and interested in things such as recycling and reduce the use of plastic to save nature.
